• Sapphire and Ruby Ball and Half Ball Lenses, 0.5 to 10mm diameter

Clear Sapphire and Ruby Balls are both made from Crystalline Alumina. Ruby or Ruby-Doped sapphire owes its red color to traces of chromium oxide While their 'extreme' physical and chemical properties are basically the same, the absorption of Green and Blue wavelengths is increased allowing Red to be transmitted. Ruby Balls are easier to see and handle ( see graph of sapphire and ruby trasnsmission below ).

• BK7 Spherical and Half Ball lens 0.5 to 10mm diameter

BK7 or K9 Hemispherical Half-ball Lens (2 to 10mm diameter) are ideal for applications such as fiber communication, endoscopy, microscopy, optical pick-up devices, and laser measurement systems.

BK7 or K9 Spherical Ball Lens (1 to 10mm diameter) with controlled diameter and sphericity tolerance are available.

Ball lens for short Focal Length applications are also available, size 2.0 to 10mm diameter.
